What is domestic abuse?

Domestic abuse can happen to anyone.


It can include:

  • Physical abuse

  • Emotional abuse

  • Financial abuse

  • Psychological abuse

  • Sexual abuse

  • Stalking, either physically or via social media

  • Controlling & coercive behaviour


It can happen in:

  • Intimate relationships

  • Or between family members

Women, men and children can all be victims.
The abuser is known to you through a relationship.

What are the signs of an abusive relationship?

There are many signs, but FEAR of the abuser is the most telling.


Other signs include:

  • Being put down or belittled

  • Control of where you go, what you wear and who you see

  • Feelings of isolation and desperation
