Due to continued expansion and increasing demand, we are seeking a Court of Protection Fee Earner (Health & Welfare).  Candidates who are also Mental Health Panel Members or actively seeking this accreditation are sought to join our specialist team.

THE ROLE

You will join a highly regarded Court of Protection team and manage your own varied caseload of Health & Welfare matters, including complex cases involving vulnerable individuals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a Court of Protection (Health & Welfare) caseload
  • Applications under Sections 16 and 21A of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Acting in Legal Aid funded matters, including use of CCMS
  • Liaising with the Official Solicitor and other professionals
  • Drafting applications, witness statements, and court documentation
  • Representing clients and providing clear legal advice
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members
  • Contributing to the continued growth of the department

We are also particularly seeking candidates based in or able to cover the North East (Newcastle), North West, Southwest, and London regions due to increasing demand in these areas.

We also have a strong requirement for Supervising Solicitors, particularly those with experience supervising both qualified and non-qualified staff, to support the continued development and expansion of the team.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a solicitor, legal executive or paralegal who is passionate about Court of Protection work and committed to achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable clients.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Mental Health Panel Membership or actively seeking Law Society Mental Health Accreditation
  • Experience in Court of Protection – Health & Welfare work
  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Experience managing your own caseload
  • Legal Aid and CCMS experience (preferred)
  • Excellent drafting, advocacy, and client care skills
  • A compassionate, professional, and proactive approach
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

Supervising Solicitor candidates should also demonstrate experience overseeing casework and supporting the development of junior colleagues.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding role within our specialist Domestic Abuse team. You will manage your own caseload of domestic abuse matters from start to finish, working closely with experienced solicitors and support staff.

About you

You are a calm, organised, and empathetic candidate who thrives in a role where professionalism and compassion go hand in hand. You are confident managing sensitive cases and committed to supporting vulnerable clients.

Key requirements:

  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
  • Experience in legal aid-funded family law, particularly domestic abuse matters
  • Strong working knowledge of CCMS and Legal Aid Agency procedures
  • Experience managing your own domestic abuse caseload from start to finish
  • Excellent drafting, organisational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage urgent deadlines

Caseworker Supervisor

Are you an experienced Family Law professional with Legal Aid knowledge and a passion for supporting both clients and colleagues? HAB Law is looking for a Caseworker Supervisor to lead, guide and develop our caseworking team at a crucial stage of the client journey.

About the Role

Our caseworking department is often the first point of contact for vulnerable clients. In this role, you will help ensure every client receives a positive, supportive and professional experience, while providing caseworkers with the structure, training and confidence they need to thrive.

  • Support and develop caseworkers through training, coaching and day-to-day guidance
  • Oversee screening, client care, file management, time recording and CCMS processes
  • Assist with next steps and allocation of fee earners for case management matters
  • Promote clear communication across departments
  • Monitor team performance, including efficiency, accuracy and client care
  • Work with the Operations Manager to improve processes and maintain clear team structure

About You

You will bring hands-on experience working with the Legal Aid Agency and a strong understanding of Family Law matters. You will be confident supporting others, solving problems and working with care and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.

Previous supervision, training or teaching experience would be an advantage, as would experience working with vulnerable clients or victims of domestic abuse.
